VSR Researcher Accepts Position at CATERPILLAR
Iowa City, IA—The Virtual Soldier Research (VSR) program at the Center for Computer Aided Design (CCAD) announced today that Dr. Zan Mi, a CCAD researcher and a recent graduate of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering has accepted an engineering position at Caterpillar in Peoria, IL. Dr. Mi recently defended her PhD dissertation and is expected to assume the position in January. Her responsibilities at CAT include working with the machine dynamics group in multibody dynamics and human simulation in collaboration with Dr. Roger Wehage, a former Professor at the University of Iowa and an international expert in the field of multi-body dynamics, and Warren Hartman, Technology Manager of Machine Research. Dr. Mi will report to Mr. Bill Evans, Manager of Machine Dynamics group. Zan’s research has led to the development of a digital humans environment at the University of Iowa called MIRA™, a novel human-computer interactive program for modeling and simulating human behavior. Her research was supervised by Professor Abdel-Malek in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
