Dr. Jia Lu, Assistant Professor, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Dr. Lu received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining the University of Iowa in 2001, he worked with ANSYS Inc. as a senior member of technical staff. Dr. Lu's research focuses on computational mechanics, material modeling and in particular tissue mechanics. In this project, Dr. Lu will apply his expertise in tissue mechanics and finite element methods to develop real-time capabilities for muscle motion simulation. The project will address two related issues: constitutive model for 3D muscle contraction and finite element procedure suitable for real-time simulation.
