We have not released Santos to
the public (nor will we do this in the forseable future). However, this group
conducts both basic and applied research for companies that are interested in reducing
their lead times and costs associated with making physical prototypes. We use Santos
and many of our laboratorys and facilities to accomplish the research. In the mean
time, we also seek to debug the Santos environment while applying it to the many problems
that have been posed to us by our industry partners.

| While Santos is only a few years
old, the technology used in Santos is revolutionary. It has surpassed the commercial
products by many margins because we have been able to solve many outstanding problems,
most significantly are the following:
a. High degree of freedoms for modeling the human body. Santos now has 87 active DOF.
b. Real-time environment for Santos.
No need to wait to animate the motion any more. You ask Santos to do
something, and he does it, right there and then.
c. Dynamics without integration.
This is perhaps the most significant contribution we have made at VSR and is a
result of true multi-disciplinary research combining kinematics, dynamics, optimization,
physiology, and biomechanics.
