Dr. Jingzhou Yang, Assistant Research Engineer

Jingzhou Yang is an Assistant Research Engineer at the Center for Computer Aided Design (CCAD), University of Iowa, Iowa City, U.S.A. He received his BS and MS in Automotive Engineering from Jilin University (Former JUT), China, Master of Computer Science and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of. Iowa, Iowa City, U.S.A.  He was a faculty member at the Department of Automobile Engineering and researcher at the State Key Lab of Automobile Safety and Energy Conservation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He is a recipient of the 2001 Arch T. Colwell best paper award from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). His research interests include geometric modeling, CAD/CAM, kinematics and dynamic analysis, digital human modeling and simulation, and ergonomics.

On the DOD Digital Humans project he is developing the task-based mathematical formulations for real-time prediction of motion, locality of humans to minimize joint stress, discomfort, energy, effort, etc. He is also responsible for investigating a new method for continuous motion of humans (smooth trajectory).
